A list of all emergency numbers will be posted by the telephone in the school so they are readily available. In the unlikely event that an emergency should occur at school, parents will be notified to come and pick up their child. Each September, we discuss and conduct a fire drill. We also practice orderly exits from our classroom on a daily basis as well as routine practice fire drills throughout the year. As part of this procedure the employees of Kinderssori Academy Inc. will calmly line up children at the fire exit door, conduct attendance to ensure all children are accounted for, conduct a head count, and take the emergency case which includes: parent sign-in forms, attendance records, emergency portable records, a first aid kit and a cell phone. Staff and children will gather in the pre-designated area (across street at Leduc Civic Centre ) and conduct a secondary head count and attendance to confirm that all children are present. If we are unable to return to the classroom parents will be contacted and will pick up their children inside the front entry of the Leduc Civic Centre building.
Note: These drills will be accompanied by a note home to let you know that we are practicing or that a real emergency has occurred at the school and that you are aware of the matter and can discuss the event with your child.
Before learning, before everything else we do, your child’s safety and well being is our primary concern. From classroom exits to parental pick-up, washroom breaks, and the size of snacks served, it is our job to keep your child safe from harm. We take this responsibility very seriously.
Parents or guardians must sign the student “in and out” each day. The child will be released only to those persons listed on your contact form. If someone other than the regular driver will be picking up your child, you must leave a handwritten note instructing our staff accordingly and the person will be asked to present ID before the release of the child is permitted. This is for your child’s safety. If you do not leave a note, we will contact you to confirm the identity of the person picking up your child. If we cannot contact you, your child will remain at school until such time as we are able to speak to you or a family member.
The Kinderssori classroom equipment is positioned and arranged to ensure the environment allows caregivers to supervise the children’s play. The staff also conducts regular safety checks of the program premises and equipment to remove any potential hazards.
Effective supervision is an important part of everyday activities wherever the program is running, either in class, on a field trip, bathroom breaks or during outside play. The staff at Kinderssori ensure this by closely monitoring children, observing play and anticipating what may happen next in order to assist children and intervene if necessary. The staff position themselves to allow for the supervision of the entire group of children and/or listen closely to children who may not be in the staff’s direct line of sight.
At no time when the program is running should a roster parent or staff member have their attention drawn away from supervision, either it being on the phone, texting or reading. All parent volunteers will be reminded of these policies at the start of their roster day.
