Each child is supplied a hook just outside the classroom for the full school term. All items are kept within the building and outdoor shoes will remain inside the entry area for children to take off and put on daily. Indoor shoes are to be worn everyday and will come back and forth to school with your child via their backpack. Make sure all of your child’s articles of clothing are removed from this designated area daily.
Children must be potty-trained to attend Kinderssori Academy and washroom breaks are routinely planned throughout our day. Children may also go to the washroom at any time and are accompanied by a teacher and/or fellow student.
Due to our harsh winter climate, many of our students have sensitive skin and are prone to eczema. To help protect your child’s face and hands we use a mild soap and lotion.
Whenever possible, we encourage independence. Children undress as much as they can, help pump the soap, pour the water or clean the spill. These are all important parts of learning and help develop a sense of competence.
If your child does have a potty incident you should have a spare change of clothing hanging on their hook in a bag. If no spare clothing is provided you will be called immediately to come and pick him/her up.
Please provide your child the opportunity to use the washroom before classes begin.
We have many field trips/classroom presenters planned throughout the school year. When we leave the school property we charter Briggs yellow school bus for these events and a limited number of volunteers are asked to assist. The average cost of these events is $10.00 - $20.00. The cost of these fees are NOT included in your school fees from the beginning of the year.
Each month parents are provided with our monthly snack menu. The snack ingredients are purchased by the directress for each week's snack. The cost of the snack is prepaid through your tuition fee each month. 1 student each day sets the table and prepares a snack for the entire class. For hygienic reasons, all students must wash their hands prior to snack when preparing and serving snacks.
We promote healthy, nutritious and quality snacks based on the Canada Food Guide.
Our classroom is nut aware. No products containing nuts should be brought into the classroom.
Classroom Uniform:
Students and staff at Kinderssori Academy wear a uniform each day. Uniforms underscore the academic nature of our program and provide a strong sense of community; no one is different we are all the same. The Kinderssori Academy uniform is simple, comfortable, affordable, and durable. Children should come to school each day in presentable attire (clean, stain, rip & tear free and void of wrinkles). Uniforms consist of a solid colored navy or white top and a solid dark colored bottom and a pair of comfortable indoor shoes with non-marking soles. Please ensure that the shoes you choose are appropriate to move about during movement class. If you choose to put your daughter in a skirt please ensure tights and or shorts are worn beneath their attire.
*Please ensure your children's attire is free of prints, designs, logo's, embellishments and/or characters.
We believe an important part of childhood is having fun! We host one theme party each month in the classroom and this event is posted on your school calendar. Parents may be asked to donate food items for special parties such as Valentine’s Day, Easter, and so on. A snack sign-up list will be available prior to these events and we sincerely appreciate your efforts to help make these days extra special for the students.
We also celebrate various holidays throughout the year such as Halloween, Thanksgiving, Diwali, Ramadan, Hanukkah, Christmas, Chinese New Year, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, etc. We celebrate these holidays within a festive non-religious context.
Birthdays are celebrated as a milestone in the timeline of your child’s life, and have purpose within the general curriculum. Due to the number of students that attend the program we have chosen to celebrate all students birthdays for each month on one specific day during each month. By celebrating together we greatly minimize the number of days that unhealthy treats are being serve to the students. On our celebration day the children will take part in icing and decorating a birthday treat for themselves as well as singing Happy birthday for all of the students and birthday crowns for each of the birthday boys/girls.
If the registered student count is more than 6 then parental involvement is mandatory at Kinderssori Academy Inc. A list will be sent home prior to each month posted with your parent duty day. If you are unable to participate on your duty day it is the parents' responsibility to find a replacement prior to that day as well as notifying the directress of the changes made. The amount of duty days is dependent on the number of children attending Kinderssori. Most likely, parents will be responsible for 1-2 duty days every four to six-week period. By participating at your children's school you not only help support the teacher but the students, community as well as an integral part of the Montessori philosophy.
NOTE: If you don't bother finding a replacement for your roster day and leave the teacher without a roster parent classes will be canceled if a last-minute replacement cannot be found. You will also be immediately terminated from the program.
